In The Big City
By Nocturnus
This serial must be read in order. The first episode is Dark Child (The Awakening): Episode 1. This is the second episode.
When she gets to the city her life seems to get way more complicated. She's staying In a hotel with a one star rating and feels whoever gave it one star was being overly generous! They have rats of all things! Finding a new place to live is harder than she would have thought until she sees the antique bulletin board in her realtor's lobby... There she found the perfect apartment but the realtor's reaction was just plain vicious and she's starting her dream job so she doesn't dwell on that much. If it weren't for the strange cravings and headaches and dizzy spells she'd think life was just about perfect!
This serial is awesome and I really enjoy it. The paranormal mystery just seems to grow ad the serial moves on. What is she? What was her father? I hope I find out in Dark Child (The Awakening): Episode 3! I will be starting that now :)
***This serial book is suitable for mature young adult through adult readers

Strong Paranormal Romance
By Jenny Schwartz
*happy sigh* Episode 1 of Dark Child was really busy setting up the world (which it did well), introducing characters and generally setting the stage. As a reader I was pretty focussed on understanding what was going on and thinking about what might possibly happen.
Reading Episode 2 was a different experience. The action was more focussed and that meant I could concentrate on the writing -- very enjoyable. Loved the descriptions -- and get caught up in the drama. I got so caught up in the drama that the end of Episode 2 came as a shock!
I was lucky enough to receive review copies of Episodes 2 and 3 from the publisher. This was a surprise and super-nice. So I feel a bit ungrateful to repeat my lament from my review of Episode 1: I think Dark Child should have been released as one book and not as a series. I know it has a lot of forward momentum and hooks and can work as a series, but I'm such a stick-in-the-mud. I find I like my books as books!
All of that said, Dark Child is proving to be a strong paranormal romance -- and I love it.

Kat's story is getting hotter and more mysterious!
By Georgette Blakeney
I'm loving this series for its intrigue and 'what'll happen next' twists. The Dark Child premise is fascinating and each episode seems to set a different tone and a different twist to the story. The pace quickens in this Ep 2 as the reader discovers more about Kat's abilities and place in the world - and the other creatures inhabiting her new city and world. Ep 1 pushed me because of the strong characterisation and twists to the plot, even though the writing at time seemed a little slow. Ep 2 has impressed me by ten because the characters and twists not only remain strong but Adina West seems to be finding more confidence in her writers voice with tighter sentences and scenes and stronger wordsmithing that heightens the story's suspense. Can't wait 'til April for the next instalment of Dark Child. A little sad to hear that it's going to be in a new location because I was really enjoying her stay in the meat-eaters' metropolis! Thanks for sharing your awesome story, Adina :)
